The very first day is full of sleep ~ Mom cares, it's warm and safe.

01/06/12 I’ve been working with and watching raptors for 30+ years and have NEVER seen anything like this. feather and jmm (hope I didn’t miss anyone else) did an amazing job of capturing this first egg hatching and it’s almost as good as it gets – meaning as good as it gets would be if you were sitting in that cavity seeing this happen live. Thanks so much, feather and jmm. This shows so much. Like how egg is opened from inside around greatest circumference by the chick and how the female helps out. Just great. Pete

Egg6 9:46AM PST 12/17/11. Nothwithstanding unknowns such as fertile egg or not or if it’s been incubated as consistently as the other eggs and based on a very crude avg incubation duration from above, #6 should hatch 12/17 around 3PM PST.
