Over the weekend, we had two adorable owlets admitted to the #CROWClinic!
A barred owl nestling, the first nestling of this species we've admitted in a few years, came in Friday evening after it fell from the nest and was found on the ground in Alva. Thankfully, the little fluff ball didn't suffer any injuries from the fall and was found to be in good health. We are happy to report the owlet was reunited with its parents yesterday by CROW volunteers Doug and Catherine using an artificial nest placed on the nest tree.
A great horned owl nestling came in on Saturday morning from North Fort Myers after it also fell from its nest. The owlet was thin and covered in mites and lice. Based on its bloodwork, veterinarians are treating it for a possible underlying infection. It will remain in our care until it is healthy.
